Lupus is an autoimmune and chronic disease; the immune system specializes in fighting various diseases of external contagion. But in a person with lupus this changes because the focus of attack on our immune system is our own body, damaging joints, skin, lungs, even our brain. The reason why the immune system is unknown and attacks itself is still unknown. The treatment is only to relieve the symptoms and improve the quality of life.
Types of lupus:
1. Medication Induced Lupus Erythematosus: these are presented by some medication and are removed when you stop taking it.
2. Lupus Erythematosus or Discoid: only affects the skin, generating hives and rashes in areas exposed to sunlight.
3. Systematic Lupus Erythematosus: it is the most complicated attacks any part of the body or organ.
Lupus is not contagious, nor is it transmitted through sexual intercourse, this disease can go from mild to fatal.
